Confessions of a Shameless Dean-girl

I will be the first to admit that Dean is an asshole … and a half. I’m not excusing his behavior, but I understand where he’s coming from.

Sam’s compassion really came through in season 6 … it came from a place of experience. Cas was literally following in Sam’s footsteps (and although he’s far older, he’s a child in human years). I think of Castiel as the littlest Winchester, by far the cutest. His innocence has proven time and again to be a refreshing counterpoint to Dean’s bad boy crudeness.

Sometimes, I got the feeling Dean was becoming John and Sam assumed Dean’s old role as mediator, and of course Cas became the sulky adolescent.

Or it could have very well been Dean distancing himself from Cas for the betrayal he foresaw coming. Dean didn’t have time to resolve his trust issues with Sam before he was again confronted with the same dilemma with Cas. Cas became a scapegoat. That and Dean is a grumpy if not mean drunk.

I still love you Dean Winchester! Flawed as you are! You just need a good beating sometimes.
